Welcome back to the start of another school year! We’re excited to introduce you to the teachers whose classrooms will be participating in LPS this year, so please click through the link to read their bios. For this 8th year of the program, we’ve expanded once again and are now running with 9 teachers and a total of 24 classes!
Scientists should expect to hear about their pen pal assignments in the coming weeks, and the first round of correspondence will kick off in early October when the pre-scientists sit down to write their first letters!
But already, we’ve been excited by the news coming out of the classrooms. Each year, the pre-scientists answer the question, “What does it mean to be a scientist?” at the beginning and end of the school year. Our favorite answer so far this year is, “It means to be a person who is curious.” We hope that by the end of the year, even more of the pre-scientists are inspired to be curious, ask questions, and think critically about the world around them.
If you are still interested in becoming a pen pal and joining a student on this journey, it’s never too late to sign up! We keep a waiting list throughout the year to ensure that there are always enough scientists to match up with students’ interests.
