Thanks for your interest in becoming a STEM pen pal with Letters to a Pre-Scientist for the 2023-24 school year! This is a yearlong volunteer opportunity that consists of exchanging four rounds of letters with a curious young student. We estimate this is a 10 hour commitment spread out in 2 hour chunks between August and May. Learn more about the program and who is eligible to participate before registering.

Please note:

  1. By mid August, registered volunteers will be emailed information about how to complete our virtual training.
  2. Training must be finished by the deadline in order for prospective pen pals to be eligible to be matched with a student pen pal at the start of the school year.
  3. Everyone who completes the training will be notified of their match status in September. If you have not heard from our team by the end of September, feel free to reach out by emailing info@prescientist.org.
